At the top of most veterinary behaviorists' lists of most commonly seen problem behaviors are canine aggression and feline elimination problems. We also see cases involving fear, destrusctiveness, unruliness, problems with feeding or diet, sterotypic and compulsive disorders, and problems with geriatric pets. Since one definition of behavior noted that behavior is "anything an animal does", we see a wide range of behaviors that clients consider problems. Generally, before reaching a specialist, the animal has been screened for any physiological problems that could be causing or affecting the problem behavior, and any physical problems found are treated before the remaining problem behaviors are addressed.
